Patrick takes pride in bringing complex healthcare and ICT projects to a successful conclusion, together with his colleagues
Upbeat and with a keen eye for the big picture: that would be a good way to describe Consultancy and Implementations Manager Patrick Lamers, who celebrated his 12.5 year anniversary at Enovation this year. In this article, Patrick tells us what he likes about his job.
What is your role at Enovation?
“I became the Manager of the Consultancy and Implementations department in January 2024. This department was created as the result of the Business Consultancy, Integration Services and Project Management departments merging together. The aim of this merger of departments was to respond to trends and customer requirements in the healthcare sector – such as data availability, sharing information, remote care and regional care coordination – in a better way.”
When Patrick began working at Enovation in 2011, he used dashboards to explore how data visualisation can make relevant business information clearly visible to management. He was then able to put the way of thinking needed here into practice straightaway as a business intelligence consultant.
What can you tell us about your ‘journey’ at Enovation?
“When I started working at Enovation, the world had just been hit by a financial crisis. At the time, the Solutions department needed a project manager and I was open to that. I ended up filling that role for 10 years, where I supervised projects as soon as products or migrations were launched, from kick-off and go-live through to handover to the management organisation. I enjoyed the more complex projects in particular, which involved planning, managing and monitoring the budget and of course, adding value to the healthcare process for our customers.”
“After 10 years in project management, during which I learned an incredible amount, I was ready for something different. The Business Consultancy Team was created, which was on the receiving end of questions from both colleagues and customers. The team helps Enovation to stay up to date with developments in the healthcare industry. Eventually, the team became a department, following which the organisation as it was formed emerged from that with effect from 2024.”
What do you like about your job?
“I like the complex projects where the approach is tailor-made for our customer. During my time as a project manager, more and more complex projects were assigned to me, where there was a lot of room for personal input. Utilising the knowledge and skills of all colleagues involved and having the project meet the customer’s needs, that’s where the challenge lies for me.”
“I also like the combination of applying technical knowledge relating to products on the one hand, and the process of putting our solutions into practice for customers on the other. Being familiar with the technical content and overseeing the whole thing is a good feeling, since it allows you to really know what you are doing.”
What are you most proud of?
“I don’t take that much pride in anything I do myself, so to speak, but I do take pride in the fact that we all bring very specific and complex projects to a successful conclusion, thus fulfilling a customer need and helping the healthcare sector. At Enovation, we don’t exactly shout this from the rooftops, and maybe that’s because of the down-to-earth attitude of people in Rotterdam. Even though our growth means we are no longer exclusively a Rotterdam company, in my experience that mentality has always remained.”
