Using Regioviewer, healthcare providers in the Delft Westland Oostland, Nieuwe Waterweg Noord, Voorburg and Rijswijk regions can access medical data of patients they have a therapeutic relationship with. This means care providers can benefit from the direct availability of data including lab results, diagnostic images and letters from specialists. This helps to avoid double diagnoses and ensures patients can be served in a narrower time frame and receive more personalised care.Via Regioviewer, care providers are given access to the data of a patient from the Reinier de Graaf Hospital. Subject to strict conditions, care providers who have a therapeutic relationship with that patient can view these data. A prerequisite is that patients need to give permission for their data to be shared with care providers associated with Stichting Regionaal Zorgvenster, the operator of the regional healthcare network. The data are then made available in accordance with the latest security standards for healthcare applications.Since early 2017, more than 10,000 medical files have been exchanged using Regioviewer. Right now, Regioviewer has 300 users. Next year, Franciscus Gasthuis and Vlietland Hospital will also join, which will significantly increase the number of users. The number of medical files accesses is also expected to grow to a total of 15,000 over 2017 and 35,000 in 2018. If you would like to know more about the benefits of Regioviewer for you, please watch a video introduction (in Dutch) here.Regioviewer is an xdsConnect solution. xdsConnect enables the secure exchange of medical data between healthcare organisations. Because every healthcare organisation has its own xdsConnect environment, it can serve multiple purposes, such as exchanging medical data with general practitioners, for a second opinion with a general or university hospital or to give patients access to their data.xdsConnect is a platform based on IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) profiles and international standards, allowing third-party systems to be connected to xdsConnect. It also enables the Reinier de Graaf Hospital to allow data access to a patient’s other care institutions or an Electronic Health Record (EHR) environment.About Stichting Regionaal ZorgvensterThis is a unique regional collaboration between primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare providers in the Delft Westland, Oostland and Nieuwe Waterweg Noord regions, and is operated by Stichting Regionaal Zorgvenster (Regional Healthcare Network Foundation), which initiates, promotes and funds ICT projects in the healthcare sector.
