Lemuel discovers his passions and talents
When Lemuel Kumar started looking for an internship, his open-minded approach led him to Enovation. After a successful internship period, he now plays an active role in major integration processes and in making the onboarding for new colleagues more efficient.
Anyone looking at CEO Marcel van der Velden can see how far you can progress at Enovation after starting as an intern. Business IT Associate Lemuel Kumar isn’t looking that far ahead yet, but like Marcel, he also stayed on at Enovation after his internship. Lemuel says, ‘What I like is the informal atmosphere. Everyone treats each other with respect and keeps learning from one another.’
First encounter
Lemuel first came across Enovation in Google Maps when he was looking for an organisation near his school where he could do his internship. ‘I was looking for an internship as part of my Business IT & Management course at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. Out of curiosity, I looked at what organisations were located near the school, and that’s how Enovation caught my eye. The information I read on the website immediately made me enthusiastic about the company.’
‘It’s a large company that works with healthcare IT every day,’ Lemuel continues. ‘That’s not something you often think about, but it’s very important. That’s why I thought it would be great to contribute to IT at Enovation. When I saw the internship vacancy on the website, it didn’t take me long to apply.’
Successful internship
After two introductory interviews, Lemuel started his internship with Business IT. ‘My first impression was immediately positive. We work in an informal setting where everyone treats each other with respect. I also really like being able to put all the knowledge I have gained during my studies into practice. In the end, that’s how you learn the most: by doing things yourself.’

Utility player
In his free time, Lemuel enjoys hiking and football. When describing his work at Enovation, the 19-year-old student uses a term from one of his hobbies: ‘I’m something of a utility player in the department. I help out with a major integration process, as well as system administration and application management. For my internship project, I worked on implementing a central database to store all parts of the IT infrastructure and how they are connected. By getting involved in as many different projects as possible, I can really discover where my passions and talents lie.’
Extension
The end of Lemuel’s internship did not mean the end of his time at Enovation. Before his internship ended, he signed a new contract. ‘I really enjoy it here, and I definitely want to keep working at Enovation until I graduate. My new contract also comes with extra responsibilities, and I’m working on longer-term projects. That’s great, because I’m particularly interested in the strategic side of things and in contributing to the company’s success. If the opportunity arises, I’d also be happy to continue working here after I graduate, in a position that matches those interests.’
