Medication Transfer in Action

Medication Transfer in Action

On Thursday 9 April 2026, another Medication Transfer in Action event will take place, from 17:00 to 21:30 in the Beatrix Building in Utrecht. This evening will focus on the progress being made towards the shared ambition of providing healthcare professionals and patients/clients with an up‑to‑date and complete medication overview.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience the interaction between healthcare professionals and software suppliers first-hand. They will also gain deeper insight into the urgency and added value of the programme — both for patients/clients and for healthcare professionals. The session aims to inspire and motivate attendees to contribute to further improvements in medication transfer.

Location and timings
Entry opens at 16:00 in the Beatrix Building in Utrecht. The main programme begins at 17:00. A warm meal will be provided during the evening, followed by an informal drinks reception.

Programme elements
The plenary programme includes contributions from researchers from UMCG and MUMC, who will share results from sector‑wide research into the medication transfer process. Their findings show that incomplete medication overviews occur regularly. In addition, software suppliers and healthcare professionals from the Kickstart phase will present the steps already taken and the outcomes achieved so far.

Breakout sessions

  • The patient/client perspective within the Medication Transfer programme: which information is visible in the Personal Health Environment (PGO), why this is the case, and how patients/clients are involved in testing and development.
  • A look inside the software of suppliers working on Medication Process 9, including a preview of new functionalities.
  • Practical guidance for healthcare providers to help them prepare for the new medication process.
  • An explanation of the agreements within the care chain: what will change in the collaboration between healthcare professionals across the chai
