Connecting at the Connectathon Europe
Enovation finishes a successful week at the IHE-Europe Connectathon 2024 in Trieste, Italy. This annual event is hosted by ‘Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise’ (IHE), an initiative by healthcare professionals and industry to improve the way healthcare systems share information.
Testing interoperability
Participation in this event gives an exceptional opportunity to test the interoperability of our information systems. A team of developers and integration specialists from Enovation tested how compatible XDS is with other products that are already being used or being developed in the healthcare industry. During the 5-day event the team also focused on testing the interoperability of the FHIR-profiles with systems of other suppliers, collaborated to enhance product quality and ensured smoother implementation processes as barriers to integrations can be removed during connectivity testing, rather than at implementation time. It goes without saying that in a room full of IT professionals an enormous amount of knowledge about information systems is shared. Besides testing interoperability, the event also provides an opportunity to test new features before committing a lot of time and resources to it.
The Connectathon seal
The Connectathon bring forth detailed validation of the participants’ interoperability and compliance with IHE profiles. Systems developed in accordance with IHE standards will have a more efficient implementation process and empower caregivers to utilise information more advantageously whenever and wherever. A new feature this year are the so-called Connectathon seals – an indicator of quality in interoperability level of products. The presence of the SEAL logo on products and services is a formal indication of a vendor’s conformity to established interoperability standards and its commitment in delivering solutions of a high standard quality to the users.
Educational and productive
All in all the Connectathon provides an educational and productive testing environment. The Enovation team successfully tested 30 IHE-profiles (and/or profile options). It was an intense week, filled with challenges and hard work, but Enovation’s presence at the Connectathon proved to be incredibly valuable, resulting in significant benefits and advancements.
