Stichting Regionaal Zorgvenster (SRZ) encourages and supports digital collaboration in regional healthcare

When improvement cannot be achieved directly on a national scale, the best approach is to start regionally. With that in mind, healthcare organisations within Stichting Regionaal Zorgvenster (i.e. Regional Healthcare Window Foundation) have been puling together for many years to optimise healthcare collaboration using digital tools. This includes giving healthcare providers easy and secure access to, for example, lab results, X-rays and specialists’ letters.

SRZ supports primary care, hospital care, mental health services, disability care and elderly care to establish a solid regional digital infrastructure. SRZ achieves this partly by acting as a procurement organisation and by entering into framework agreements. The goal is to achieve effective networked care. DSW, as preferred health insurer in the region, plays an important role connecting the various parties.

Collaboration

Marc van Wijk (Board Member at SRZ) and Eline Loomans (Digital Healthcare Project Manager at DSW) explain how the parties work together and the role Enovation’s solutions play in this collaboration. Eline Loomans: ‘As a health insurance company, we want healthcare to be organised efficiently. We want to bring healthcare providers in the region together. That is why we are involved.’

Region

SRZ operates in an area stretching from Westland, Oostland, Schiedam, Vlaardingen, Maassluis to Pijnacker-Nootdorp. Marc van Wijk: ‘Regional cooperation has led, among other things, to the regional digital transfer handbook, which lays down agreements on securely sharing medical information. The handbook also includes agreements on which digital channels should be used for each type of information transfer. Enovation’s digital solutions play a key role in this.’

‘Since the setup of patient consent has been streamlined and it’s possible to view everything in your own GP information system with a single login, every GP wants this.’

Viewer

The cooperation between healthcare organisations within SRZ has led to numerous improvements in the regional digital healthcare landscape. Among other things, since 2016, GPs, pharmacists, mental health doctors, and disability care physicians have been able to use the Enovation Viewer. With this Viewer, they can access lab results, X-rays (including images) and specialists’ discharge letters via their own GP information system or pharmacy information system or patients with whom they have a treatment relationship. This access contributes significantly to continuity of care and prevents redundant diagnostic testing.

Implementation

Van Wijk was closely involved in the solution’s implementation. ‘During the implementation, it became clear that having to log in separately to the regional viewer environment with the UZI pass created an obstacle in the busy daily practice. User feedback on the layout was promptly incorporated by Enovation. The introduction of direct login from the electronic patient record to the regional viewer (‘Single sign-on’) led to a marked increase in usage in the regional viewer. All practice nurses (POHs) also wanted access to the regional viewer. this was made possible using their own UZI passes. It genuinely supports healthcare professionals in their daily work.’

‘It genuinely supports healthcare professionals in their daily work.’
