Brand new patient portal at Groene Hart Ziekenhuis in Gouda

Funatic realised a brand-new ‘Mijn GHZ’ patient portal and mobile app with which patients can log in with DigiD and then access appointments, personal data and their health record. The Dutch Groene Hart Ziekenhuis (Green Heart Hospital) is using ths for a while. There is also a mobile app ready for patients, with comparable login functions as in the patient portal.


The portal is set up as a SaaS solution (June) and thus runs cloud native on Kubernetes. The website design has been copied exactly for the patient portal and mobile app so that patients have a uniform patient experience throughout the entire digital patient journey. An automatic link between the patient portal and the existing website has been created, which means patients can seamlessly navigate back and forth between the website, portal and app. Many live connections have been implemented with the Nexus EPR enabling patients to change some of the information themselves and new results, letters or other medical data is readily available to patients.

Appointment data is enhanced with all kinds of information that was already in the hospital, such as location information, images of care providers, polyclinic telephone numbers, useful links, brochures and other information. The mobile app ensures that all information is available at an even lower threshold and that patients can also be notified via push notifications if there is something new ready for them or if something is expected of them.
